Optimizing Your Website Specific To Google

The first concept to keep in mind when building your business website is search engine optimization. An internet business is only as good as its online reach, whether targeting local, state, national or worldwide attention. By keeping track of your numbers, things like overall traffic, visits, customers and search engine rankings, you can fine tune your site until you have it working just as you want and need it to.

Covering a wide variety of tools for a web developer, SEO optimization is a concept that can be used to boost overall traffic and increase the popularity of their website, increasing the effectiveness of the site, something essential for any business. Categories include keyword densities, topic relevance, meta tags, script coding, domain names, back linking, search engine submissions, advertising and so much more.

With keyword density, you can help draw people interested in the type of content to your site. An example of a key word for a website about optimization would be “search engine optimization.” A web crawler would be able to identify the main search-able topic of the site, by seeing how often the keyword is used. But be careful! If you overuse the keyword, your site could be tagged as spam, and keep people away, instead.

To create a higher ranking for your website in a search engine, you need to have topics that are relevant to the keywords. For example, if the website had a great number of topics about ducks, but over all, the site was about frogs, it would be at risk of being listed as unrelated. A site on ducks, however, with many articles and other duck-related content, would have a higher relevance rating. That would mean it would be more likely that someone looking for similar content would find it.

Meta tags are keywords that are put into a special part of the site that remains unseen, in a header through professional scripting. The purpose of meta tags is to help engines find your topic. The meta tags you use should be the main thrust of your content. Although there are different script alterations that can be done automatically to detect meta tags and put them in the script for you based on densities in your content, it is best to avoid using them unless you are a skilled designer.

If you were looking for a florist, would you be likely to try a website with gravel in the name? Of course not – and that is why you want to keep your domain name as either the business name, or relevant to the topic of the website. And another tip: use dot com or dot net, as they are domains that rank in the top numbers for the Google search engine.

Find The Best Keywords For Your Site

By cautiously deciding on the most relevant keywords and then using solid off-page SEO, you will be guaranteed increased online visitors for your website. This is good news for online marketers and anyone looking for mass traffic in order to reach internet sales goals. It takes some work but is well worth the time and energy, so don’t be lazy!

Your very first consideration when trying to optimize your web pages should be keyword phrases. Your web success is influenced on how well you can choose these; After all, this is what people have typed into Google or other search engines to find the site they are searching for.

Keywords should be popular terms, this means many searches are being conducted on the search engines. Words with a search count of 300 to 500 are good. Keyword phrases with a search count of 500 to 1,000 are really good. Search count here stands for how many times per month the keyword has been searched.

A basic rule of thumb is to pick keyword terms that have a Keyword Effectiveness Index of 10 or greater. KEI is a giant, very complex matter, luckily all you need to focus on is acknowledging that the higher the index number the easier the keyword phrase will be to optimize.

In laymen’s terms, a very popular search keyword phrase with not too many competing sites will have a greater KEI than a high demand search keyword phrase with many, many competing sites.

You should center on keyword phrases that are in demand, yet not so competitive that ranking on the first 3 page results in Yahoo!, MSN and Google, is within reach.

I need to emphasize, going through the work of off-line optimization using bad keywords is a waste of time. They must be targeted enough to get the targeted traffic but not so obscure that no one is searching for those terms.

The problem with optimizing your web page using poorly picked keyword phrases, your end result may be increased internet traffic, but not getting you the particular type of visitor you had wanted, so it is very vital to get this right, the rest of your search engine optimization efforts are shaped by the initial keyword phrases you finally decide on.

Link Creating For The Success Of Your Website

Due to the fact that there are millions of sites that are on the web, the challenge becomes how to ensure that your site is listed on the search engines and and can be found by potential customers.

A large percentage of your marketing strategy must be be website backlink creation. You will require tools to help make it easier to gain and manage linking. The advantages of backlinking include more traffic, better search engine results placement and web page money making opportunities.

The main reason to build links is to make your website competitive relative to other web pages. The more backlink submissions you make the more of a possibility you have of getting web visitors from these links.

Still another plus is that your backlinking count will go up relative to other sites in your niche category. Web pages that have a lot of traffic commonly have lots of backlinks and this was accomplished by doing manual backlink submissions.

While many people will tell you what you should be doing when it comes to using link exchanges, hardly any will let you know what you should NOT be doing. There are a few specific processes of a backlink exchange, which might actually hurt your rankings instead of improving your web page.

Most search engines are extremely finicky and implementing the wrong actions could result in the engines lowering your ranking or even penalties for things you never expected. Hence, it is wise to keep your eyes open and understand just what you must avoid when using link exchanges.

Implementing The Proper Words – In text links, do not use words that are irrelevant to your website and link. By using the phrase click here is of no actual value in your text link. Search engines use text links to determine precisely what they are linking to. Use only the most descriptive and relevant words in any text link. If you operate Uncle Joe’s Old Fashioned Grille, use Uncle Joe’s Old Fashioned Grille in your text, you decidedly do not want to place a link to a website called Dan’s Dry Cleaning.

Stay away from link farms ” Never, ever, ever, really and I mean it don’t trade your links with any type of link farm. If a website looks even remotely like a link farm, stay away from it at all costs. A lot of search engines place high negativity on link farms and if you are connected with one, it will most definitely cost you on your search results rankings, basically taking some value away from your website.

Relevancy Really Matters ” You are probably tired of listening to this wold, but it is completely and totally necessary in the sphere of link exchange. You must not take part in a link exchange with any website that has no relevance to your own website. There is no relevance between those two web pages at all. Instead, you would want web pages about food and other websites that have something in common with your own web page.

Proper link building will help you right now and for days to come, to assist with the success of your web page.

Getting Ready To Use Backlink Strategy To Get More Traffic

How to get the ability to establish more website traffic is quite simply, links. The most potent techniques driving the traffic on the internet, is the hyperlink.

Backlinking is the engineering that makes it able for you to browse, download products, order items, and do everything you do on the web. And above all else this is the technique that will grow your website visitors. When you point links to other sites , you are building them traffic, and vise versa, when other sites point to your website , they are helping you to get more traffic.

If you own a website and it doesn’t have links pointing to it cannot get traffic from other websites. Due to this the most significant traffic technique is having a lot of links pointing to your web page, the more backlinks the merrier. That being said, in order to receive links more often than not, calls for you to link to others.

Popular companies like E Bay, Yahoo, Goggle, and MSN get great visitors because they have millions of backlinks. There are about 100 million e Bay users and Yahoo has more than 300 million users producing billions of dollars. These big websites are linked to a lot of other websites through a link of interlocking financial arrangements.

Let say, you have an online business where you supply coffee pots and sell online, you should link to other websites selling toasters, mixers, freezers, dryers, washing machine, iron, and other web pages that relate to coffee. Then have them link back to you.

Be positive you do not link to competitors, link to items that are related to yours, this will give you targeted website visitors. Understand, not all your backlinks are for work, some have to be for play. All work no play you know the rest.

How to Attract Buyers to any Website.

If you are an Internet marketer, then you will be promoting a website, whether you own that website or whether it is a generic site promoting an affiliate link is irrelevant.

Whether you own the site or not, the problem remains the same – how do you get enough interested visitors to your site, so that, if they like your product and can afford it, they will have a chance to buy it, before they get bored and move on.

This is the largest common problem that every single Internet marketer has, and it is called attracting targeted traffic, getting relevant visitors or something similar. All the phrases come to the same thing ultimately. If no one sees your product they cannot buy it or if your visitors are mainly young people interested in tennis, it is no good trying to sell them bird cages.

So, you obviously need as many visitors to your website, who are interested in your product, as you can handle. This means that you need to be highly ranked in the search engines in order that people can find your website. The most popular and most often-used search engine is Google. So, what is the best way get your site ranked highly in Google?

There are thousands of books on this subject, but without exception, the serious ones come to the same conclusion, unless they were written by self-interested safe-list or traffic exchange owners. And that conclusion is that you need links to your site.

Very few people will honestly admit to knowing how Google ranks sites, but most people agree that the more sites linking to your site the better. This has lead some webmasters to try exchanging links with each other. It sounds an easy way to get links but Google can recognize reciprocal links. The best links are one-way links, because it demonstrates that someone values your site enough to want to be associated with it. These are called back links.

That means that the real problem boils down to how to get enough back links to your website to persuade Google (and the other search engines) that you run such an important website that they ought to rank it highly for your chosen keywords, which should be relevant to the content of your website. How do you do that?

There are many strategies you can employ such as traffic exchanges, safelists, FFAs, forums and writing articles, but to be blunt, the first three of these are a total waste of time. I used to own a safelist and have wasted thousands of hours on traffic exchanges, all for nothing. Posting to forums can be worthwhile, but then ONLY if the link on your post is a follow link. If it is not, it doesnt do any good and most are no follow links. This means that you have to do some research to find the forums where it is worth you posting to (more on this later). That leaves writing articles as the ONLY sure way to get rock-solid back-links to your site based on relevant keywords.

So, you write an article on a subject relevant to your site stuffed (but not over-stuffed) with relevant keywords but then what do you do? Thats easy! You search Google for article directories, lists and blogs; sign up to a couple of dozen of the relevant ones or in the related categories and post your article to them.

And that is the definitive method of getting the sort of links you need to get your site highly ranked, so that people can find you and have a chance to buy what you are selling. The only catch is that Google will expect to see new links appearing on the Internet on a regular basis, which means writing and posting time after time after time after time ad infinitum. Or does it?

Unfortunately, yes, it does! But the process can be automated and automation is the key to online success. Set up a proven, successful process and let it run ” day and night: all day and all night! I use a system that helps me turn an article into thousands of variations and posts them to thousands of search engines, directories, lists and websites, creating literally thousands of back-links!

But do not think that these variations are spun! (The industry standard way of creating variations is to use spinning software to substitute synonyms and pseudo-synonyms eg yellowish for yellow in a random way. This works to a certain degree but can produce gibberish too). The system I use does not employ this method, but still produces thousands or variants all written by human hand. Then it sends them to article directories and blogs etc.. Thousands of them. In fact today, there are over 11,000 sites on their list and the list is kept fresh on a monthly basis. Most similar lists are not well maintained because it is so time-consuming. Therefore many contain lots of dead links.

This system takes your article, creates thousands of variations and then posts them to thousands of sites. All with your sites link in the by-line, which is also variable. But not only that! It only posts your article to lists and categories that deal with sites like yours (based on your chosen keywords) and posts according to a schedule chosen by you: ie 10, 20, 50, 100, 1,000 posts a day, starting on any future date you choose! So, for example, you could write three articles and have the first one go out starting the next day at 150 a day; the second one starting after seven days at 150 sites a day; and the third starting after two weeks at a rate of 75 sites a day.

That would give your site at least 3,000 links in a month ” all for 2-3 hours work! If you wrote one article a day (an hours work) and had it posted to only 1,000 relevant sites, you would have 30,000 relevant links in a month. Imagine writing an article a day and having it go out to 50 sites a day! After 10 days you would have 500 extra links a day: 15,000 links a month! What about three hours work a day (three articles)? 45,000 extra links a month. Plus all the webmasters who would copy your articles to their sites, ezines and blogs. Just imagine the boost in sales that that would create!

If you would like to see an example of this systems output, you have already read one ” this article. And if you would like to find out more, follow the link in my by-line attached to it.

Search Engine Optimisation Uncovered

Search Engine Optimisation is an ever changing discipline. It works to maximise a website’s ratings on the ‘natural’ search lists on major Search Engines. Natural or ‘organic’ lists form the main body of a SE page. These do not include the paid listings. The PPC (paid) entries tend to feature at the top and right side of the page. Whilst the other free ads have been listed by the SE’s. The order of each site is determined by its ‘importance’ and relevance to the keyword.

Plainly our aim is to get our site up with the top ones. We’re unlikely to get noticed if we’re number 8 on the tenth page! Only those in the Search Engine’s ‘inner circle’ know all the factors used to position sites. It’s not in the SE’s interest to tell people everything they do.

Because of this, much technical expertise has developed around the subject. We have Search Engines constantly developing new technology on the one hand. Leading to great mystique over their ratings methodology. On the other hand, there’s Search Engine Optimisation. SEO empirically measures and tests data to establish the more significant factors that the SE’s are using.

Search Engine Optimisation deals with both on-page and off-page issues. In addition there are geographic and demographic factors, but SEO cannot control these. (Off-Page optimisation is examined in an additional feature.)

SEO ‘On-Page’

It’s possible to change the pages of your website to make them ‘friendly’ to the Search Engines. It’s not too complex – it just requires setting your website up the right way. Doing things such as: Keyword seeding (in the right places and the right amounts), using H1 and H2 header tags (and to some extent meta-tags) and internal linking.

Don’t worry if you don’t understand the technical terms. The bottom-line is, that while it is the easiest to control, it has the LEAST affect on your ranking. To be blunt, some would say it hardly has any effect at all. Search Engines used to credit on page factors in the past. Not any longer though.

The only time that ‘on-page’ becomes important is when you have taken care of ‘off-page’ and have a lot of inbound ‘back-links’. If that’s the case, internal linking and a certain amount of on-page fine-tuning can reap rewards.

Some Words Of Caution… A phrase that shows vast numbers of results should not be your first SEO target. For instance, if you typed into a Search Engine the term Car insurance, seventy million results would be listed for the UK alone. It’s fairly obvious that seventy million competitors is a few too many for someone just getting started.

On the other hand… The phrase ‘Southampton Car Insurance’ only brings in three hundred thousand. (Assuming I was a car insurance provider in Southampton.) This still seems quite a large amount, but it’s actually not in search terms.

I could expect to get ranked far more easily for the longer phrase. In reality, getting ranked for car insurance would cost a fortune! I’d actually be head to head with the really big boys. So not a great idea – especially, in fact, when there are much better ways to go about it.

Therefore, we’re looking for phrases that yield less overall results – but quite accurately sum up what we do or what we offer. These ‘long tail’ phrases might contain a number of specific keywords. They could be anything from two to seven words in length. Generally we use 3 to 4 words.

It’s sensible to start SEO work on terms that yield under half a million returns. (If the sites on the front page haven’t used SEO techniques, then we might go with bigger yields). Over time we’ll gain ground on the larger search terms. This will happen automatically through building back links. We can go for some of those after several months if we’ve SEO’d well. A line of attack like this makes business sense. Basically we zone in on people who are specifically searching to purchase.

Your home page isn’t the only place for back-links. Spread them liberally around your website. This technique is referred to as Deep Linking. For example, build links to the pages that group products. That’s because pages like this generally have links to several individual pages. So don’t limit the back links to one page. Google and the other SE’s are looking more and more at how individual pages on your site are listed and treated.
